Manager's Corner

Vulnerable Sector Checks (formerly Criminal Record Check)                                                                                                  EVERYONE WHO IS A VERMILION SOCCER ASSOCIATION COACH, ASSISTANT COACH, MANAGER OR ON THE BOARD MUST have a Vulnerable Sector Check completed.  Please drop them off in the Secretary's file slot in the Shack or give them to a member of the Board NO LATER THAN MAY 10, 2017. This document is valid for 3 years with VSA.  You must take a signed letter from the President or Vice President with you to the RCMP Station in order to get a Vulnerable Sector Check completed; if you do have a signed letter please contact the Secretary.  RCMP only accept Vulnerable Sector Checks from Tuesday-Thursday, 8:00am-4:00pm. If your Vulnerable Sector Check is going to take longer than 2 weeks, please ASK the RCMP to provide you with an In-Progress letter to hand in until the check is complete.

Bench Policy
Vulnerable Sector Checks are MANDATORY! If a coach, assistant coach or manager does not have a Vulnerable Sector Check completed they will be removed from the practice or game. If a team with at least one female player is being coached by a male, there must be an adult female on the bench at all times; this could be a manager, assistant coach or parent. The situation is reversed if the coach is a female and at least one player is male (i.e. a male manager, assistant coach or parent must be on the bench).

Registering Players and Teams for the Season
LDSA needs registration forms from each team so they can register all our teams with both LDSA and ASA: our Registrar will fill it out the ASA Player/Team Registration Form and have the managers proof it before submitting it to LDSA.

Directors of Youth & Mini Soccer and Technical Director for 2017
Our Mini (U6-U10) Director is Sarah Howe.
Our Youth (U12-U18) Director is Judy Smith.
Our Technical Director is Tom McAleer.

LDSA Outdoor League Play and Team Schedules
Lakeland District Soccer Association only schedules league games for Youth (U12-U18) level soccer. Mini (U6-U10) level is scheduled by the Mini Director of Vermilion Soccer Association.

Youth Managers, please check LDSA's website for the League Schedule, and return to it frequently as changes may be made.
The LDSA game sheet can be found here.  The team who has won the game is responsible to scan & email Kristy L'Hirondelle (execdir@lakelandsoccer.ca) the game sheet, and must hold onto the hard copy in case of discrepancies later on.  In the event of a tie the home team is responsible to email game sheets in.

LDSA Tournaments and Lakeland Cup
The Vermilion Soccer Association has a policy of paying for one out-of-town tournament for each of our teams, in addition to paying for entry into the Lakeland Cup for teams at the Youth (U12-U18) level. At the Youth level, the out-of-town tournament normally covered by the association is the Camrose Night Classic; registrations for this tournament must be submitted early, so the club takes care of this. As for the minis, please let your Mini Director know which out-of-town tournament you would like the club to pay for, and our Treasurer will then issue cheques to the various communities.

LDSA has listed all of the tournaments for the upcoming 2017 outdoor season, including dates, ages, contact information and registration forms.

The Lakeland Cup is the league playoff tournament for the youth level (U12-U18). Please read carefully through the rules and policies for LDSA League Play, including the Lakeland Cup, as well as Tier IV Provincial eligibility, well before the event.

Local VSA Tournaments
Our 2016 team registration forms and rules for the 3v3 (U8-U12), Mini (U6/U8)  and U10 Tournaments are available for download below. Dates for this tournaments can be found on our VSA Event Calendar.

Note that for VSA teams the fees for the Mini Tournament and U10 Tournament are covered by our Association; for out-of-town teams the costs for the Mini and U10 Tournament are $100 per team.

The 3v3 tournament is for U8-U12 players and the rules and 2016 registration form can be found under "Attachments" below. To clarify the cost for the 3v3 tournament, the cost is divided between the number of players on the 3v3 team, not between the entire team (for example, if your team has the maximum allowed of 5 players on the 3v3 team, they must each pay $12 to meet the $60 fee). Note that for VSA teams, these fees are NOT covered by our Association.

Team Pictures
Team pictures are organized by Elizabeth Myhovich, the 2017 Team Picture Coordinator. She will email out the Player Order Forms and a Manager Form (there is also PDF copy attached below); please have all forms collected and filled out, and all money collected PRIOR to your picture time. Place the money (CHEQUE OR MONEY ORDERS ONLY - NO CASH) and order forms in a sealed envelope with your name and team name on it, and then give this to her with the packaged order column filled out. Please include any missing players names on the manager form, as well as players who are not placing orders. Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Managers are all encouraged to be part of the pictures.
